Citizens interested in serving on a board, commission or committee must submit a brief letter of interest to the Mayor’s Office at City Hall. Letters should include the board, task force or commission for which you are applying, as well as the reason for your interest and any background and/or experience that would be appropriate.

Letters of interest are retained in the Mayor’s Office pending an opening, at which time the file is consulted. Candidates may be contacted by phone for additional information; personal interviews sometimes are arranged.

When a decision is made, all interested persons are notified. Appointments then go to the City council for approval if required, or for information purposes only. Appointees will receive a Letter of Appointment from the Mayor’s Office. City departments responsible for staffing the board or commission will contact appointees for orientation and meeting schedules.
