CITY ATTORNEY
William A. Vaughn

The goal of the office of the City Attorney is to provide legal services and counsel in a manner that ensures that all City functions and actions are performed on a sound, legal basis.

The City Attorney is appointed by and reports directly to the City Council and serves as the Legal Advisor to the City Council, Planning Commission, City Manager, and all City departments, and represents the City and/or directs all litigation involving the City. The City Attorney drafts and/or reviews all ordinances and resolutions of the City to ensure constitutionality and harmony with existing law and reviews all contracts and agreements prior to execution. The City Attorney renders opinions concerning City policies and procedures based on interpretation of State, County and City laws, and pursues limitation of City liability exposure. The City Attorney's Office is committed to providing professional, quality legal services that ultimately protect the interests of the City of Los Banos and the citizens of the community.

Currently the City Attorney responsibilities are handled through a contractual agreement with the law firm of Vaughn and Falasco, 525 J Street, Suite A, Los Banos, CA 93635, (209) 826-3531. William A. Vaughn was appointed as City Attorney by the City Council in May of 2003. He has practiced law for 23 years in the City of Los Banos. He received a Juris Doctorate from the University of the Pacific McGeorge, School of Law and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of San Francisco.
