Animals are regulated in the City of Los Banos by the Animal Control Division of the police department. The city’s Animal Control Officers are Marlene Milosevich and Jason Martin. They will respond to your animal control issues, or can answer your animal control questions. You may call them, or leave a message at 827-7070 ext. 252. EMERGENCY? DIAL 911.
We remind you that if you own, control, harbor or posses any dog over the age of four (4) months, it must be vaccinated for rabies, as required by state law. The rabies virus remains active in the wildlife populations in California, and the best way to protect animals and humans from this potentially fatal disease is to keep dogs currently vaccinated.
Residents of Los Banos must have each dog over four (4) months old licensed. Dog licenses are due January 31st of every year. Licenses now cost $24 for dogs that have not been spayed or neutered. Upon presentation of a spay/neuter certificate from a veterinarian, the fee is reduced to $12. You may license your dog at the Police Department, located at 945 5th Street, Monday through Friday (holidays excluded) between the hours of 8:00am and 4:00pm.
The city conducts an Annual Animal Licensing and Rabies Vaccination Clinic on, or near, the last weekend in January. The clinic is normally held at the Scout Hut, which is behind the Milliken Museum at Pacheco Park.
Are you looking to adopt a dog, cat, puppy or kitten? We have many animals in search of loving families. Come visit our animal shelter at the end of Airport Road (off of West I Street). You can call and make an appointment with an Animal Control Officer or visit the shelter on Saturdays, when the Volunteers for Animals are at the shelter.
Are you looking to help our Volunteers for Animals? The volunteers meet every 3rd Thursday at 7:00pm in the Los Banos Police Department Annex Building located at 535 J Street, across from City Hall.
