Experience

Mayor Jones is serving his first term as Mayor of Los Banos, having been sworn into office on November 27, 2006. He previously served six years as a City Council Member, his first term from 1996-2000 and his second term 2004-2006 until he was elected Mayor. He has been a resident of Los Banos for the past 17 years.

Mayor Jones is a teacher with the Los Banos Unified School District where he has taught History and Math for the past 16 years. He also coached football and track.

Education

He earned a B.A. degree in Sociology with a minor in History and English from California State University, Bakersfield in 1975, where he earned a lifetime teaching credential. After graduating from Caver High School in Midland, Texas in 1966, he joined the US Army where he served three years, completing two tours of duty in Vietnam. After his military service was completed, he attended Prairie View A&M University in Hempstead, Texas from 1969-1970.

Mayor Jones is married to Mrs. Cherly Jones and has seven children and nine Grandchildren.
