Background
The Los Banos City Council is the elected governing body for the city. The council is made up of the Mayor and four council seats. The council members serve four year terms while the Mayor serves two years. Along with the Mayor, two of the four council seats are up for election at the general elections on even numbered years. The City Clerk and Treasurer are also elected positions and serve four-year terms.
The City Council is assisted in its duties by a number of commissions, committees, and occasional task forces. Regular meetings of the City Council are held on the first and third Wednesday of each month. These meetings are viewed live and on regular replays both on the local cable system and the internet.
